Wheels make or break the look

My S4 came with a set of BBS CH wheels, and like most wheels that have lived a real life, they had seen better days. There was curb rash around the lips, and once we had them inspected, a few cracks and bends as well. No matter how good the paint and the stance are, tired wheels pull the whole car down.

So they came off first and went out for a full refinish.

A proper refinish, not a touch up

The set was repaired of all cracks and bends, every bit of curb rash was removed, and then the wheels were powder coated. Powder coating is the right call for a finish that has to survive brake dust, road grime, and weather without chipping the way a quick respray would.

The difference was night and day. They came back restored to perfection, clean lipped and even, ready to carry the rest of the build. A customer who walked into the shop saw them and bought them on the spot, which tells you everything about how a proper refinish reads in person.

Fitment matters too

Part of getting wheels right is getting the right wheel on the car. I test fit a set of BBS LM-R 19x8.5 et38 wrapped in Vredestein Ultrac 235/35/19 to dial in the look and confirm clearance over the big brakes before committing.

For winter I run a separate set of BBS CH 18x8.5 on Vredestein Wintrac 235/40/18. A dedicated winter wheel and tire setup keeps the good wheels out of the salt and gives the car real grip when it counts.

Keeping them clean the right way

A refinished wheel is only as good as how you maintain it. For wheel cleaning we reach for Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner, which in my opinion is the best wheel cleaner out there. It clings to the surface, breaks down brake dust and iron, and rinses clean without scrubbing the finish.

We pair it with Wheel Woolies to safely get into the barrels and around the spokes where a regular mitt cannot reach. The combination cleans thoroughly without scratching the finish you just paid to restore.

The payoff

Refinishing a set of wheels and then maintaining them correctly is one of the highest impact things you can do for a car. It is cheaper than chasing a brand new set, it keeps a classic wheel like the BBS CH on the road, and with the right cleaning routine they stay looking new for years.

Whether you need wheels refinished, the right setup sourced, or just want them cleaned and protected properly, we handle wheels as carefully as we handle paint. Get in touch and we will sort out what yours need.
